Getting to Kiawah

Transportation?
Airlines serving Charleston include AirTran, Continental, Delta, US Airways, United Express, and Northwest. We strongly recommend renting a car.

Is there shuttle service from the airport?
No, we do not provide shuttle service from the airport, but transportation from both airports is available by prior arrangements with ResortQuestPrivileges Partners.

Once You Arrive

When and where is check in?
After 4:00 p.m. Summer Saturdays is our busiest check-in/out times at our Freshfields Village front desk. Housekeeping does everything possible to ready your accommodations by 4:00 p.m., but occasionally they may not be completely finished until 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. You may arrive on the island anytime during the day and enjoy the beach, bike trails, restaurants, and shops. Keys, however, will not be released until your accommodations are cleaned and ready for you. After-hours Check-In packets will be obtained via lockbox. Explore Freshfields Village while you wait or any time during your stay. You'll be amazed at this great shopping, dining and entertainment destination that mixes the down home friendliness of Mayberry with the uptown style of Main Street. Or check out Bohicket Marina and its shops.

Is there transportation on the island?
No, there is no shuttle service on the islands. Although you can get around on a rental bike. Rental cars are recommended while on the island and to visit Charleston. Call 877-0837.

Is parking at our accommodations limited?
Yes, there is a strict vehicle pass limit for each property. If your party plans to bring more than 2 cars, please check with our Guest Services staff (1-800-877-0837) to verify the number of cars permissible.

Where is the closest grocery store?
Newton-Farms in the Freshfields Village complex is conveniently located by our front desk. If you are arriving early, please don't buy perishables until we verify that your accommodations are ready.

What is the phone number of our lodging?
Since your accommodations may have to be assigned on the day of arrival, give family or friends your reservation number or the name on the reservation and they can call toll-free 1-800-877-0837. Our staff can give them your phone number once you arrive.

What other convenient services do you offer?
We provide mail drop, photocopying, fax and answering machines, FedEx & notary public nearby, newspapers and gift baskets. There is a charge for some items. It is best to order in advance since quantities are limited.

What areas have pools?
As a private island, there are no public pools. If pool access is important to you, be sure to search for properties that offer access to a neighborhood or private pool. Neighborhoods with pools include: Inlet Cove, Sparrow Pond, Greenslake Cottages, Duneside Villas, The Village at Turtle Beach, Ocean Green, Silver Moss and Atlantic Beach Court homes. Other locations do not have pool access.

When can you book golf tee times?
Call our Golf Coordinator to set up advance tee times on any of the 18 area golf courses we offer. Get the latest on course conditions, scheduled maintenance and tee time availability. We offer a wide variety of courses to suit the needs of a beginner to the most advanced golfers. Call your advance tee time requests in early to 1-800-877-0837 or by e-mail to jamidon@resortquest.com.

Should we rent bikes and equipment before arrival?
To guarantee availability and delivery, it is advisable to order at least two weeks prior to your arrival. To reserve bikes and other equipment, fill out a Pre-Arrival Equipment Order Form, visit our website www.ResortQuestKiawah.com or call 1-800-877-0837 for recommendations and assistance.

Can we rent beach equipment?
Yes, beach equipment such as beach chairs, umbrellas, rafts, and boogie boards can be rented by calling our Guest Services staff 1-800-877-0837. All items will be delivered to the closest beach access to your accommodations. A two-day minimum is required for rental. Deliveries begin between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and are picked up at 5:00 p.m.

Can we rent childcare items?
Yes, items like cribs and high chairs can be rented and delivered directly to your accommodations and picked up after departure. Crib linens are not included. Guest Services can provide information regarding our exclusive child care provider - Chautauqua.

What's included in our accommodations?
All accommodations offer central heating, air conditioning, and a fully-equipped kitchen including dinnerware, flatware, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender and a microwave oven. Telephone, VCR and/or DVD player, AM/FM radio, washer, dryer and color cable TV are also standard. Starter sets of paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing and laundry detergent are also provided. Bed linens and bath towels are initially provided. Extra items/supplies and daily maid service are available for a fee.

What items should we bring?
We suggest you bring beach towels, coffee filters, salt and pepper, your favorite spices, tin foil, any special food products, as well as any personal items such as sunblock, shampoo, lotion, a hair dryer, etc. Replace anything you forget at Freshfields Village, where our Front Desk is located. You'll find an extraordinary food market, clothing, shoes, sporting goods, books, gifts, restaurants, a dry cleaner and more. There is also a General Store near Kiawah’s Security Gate.

Can we charter boats?
Guest Services can recommend several partners in the ResortQuest Privileges Program that provide charter fishing and nature tours. Kayak tours and rentals can best be arranged with several days advance notice.

Do you deliver groceries?
Yes, a local company can do your grocery shopping, including delivery and unpacking, prior to your arrival. For a Pre-Arrival Equipment Order/Grocery Delivery Form, visit our website ResortQuestKiawah.com or call 1-800-877-0837.

Are pets allowed in our accommodations?
Yes, but not all properties allow pets, so please call the ResortQuest Reservations Department for more details on those properties allowing pets.

Are there rules we need to know?

  • Yes, Kiawah is a private community with many full time residents. Please be a courteous neighbor and respect our residents right to peace and quiet.

  • As our Online Vacation Guide and your confirmation stated, the number of vehicles permitted and security passes issued will be strictly enforced. Be sure not to park on lawns or roadside grass.

  • Bikes must be parked in designated areas and may not be left on the street, in the yard or in the driveway, even for a short time. Also, please keep yards, decks, driveways and porches free of coolers, towels, etc.

  • Please refrain from any loud noise. Hours of quiet time are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

  • Charcoal grilling on wooden decks, patios, porches, balconies or stairways is prohibited.

  • There is a recycling drop behind the Fire Station on Sora Rail Road by the utility plant just off the Parkway.

  • Is there any place to keep our boat?
    There is no place on Kiawah available to store or launch boats.
